Five Layers Between Your Catalogue and an AI Answer

Most stores are invisible to AI search for structural reasons, not brand reasons. Here is the diagnostic we run before we touch anything. Most stores are invisible to AI for boring reasons. The crawler could not read the catalogue. The schema was malformed. The entity was never established. None of that is a branding problem and none of it gets fixed by publishing more content.

The step

A full structural diagnostic, run before we commit to a plan. It takes about a minute and it decides what the first ninety days actually contain.

The five layers

  1. Crawl permissions — can the engines reach you at all

  2. JavaScript rendering — is your content there when they look

  3. Schema completeness — is the machine-readable layer present and correct

  4. Entity consistency — do the engines recognise you as one coherent thing

  5. Content structure — heading hierarchies that frame questions, self-contained answers of 60 to 150 words, FAQ sections with proper FAQPage JSON-LD

That fifth layer is the one people underestimate. An engine lifting an answer wants a clean, self-contained, attributable passage. Beautiful prose that never states a claim plainly gets read and skipped.

What the report contains

Five sections, in this order:

  • Snapshot — your homepage as the engines render it, with Core Web Vitals: LCP, CLS, INP and TBT.

  • What you do well — the checks that pass. Named, not implied. Some of these are load-bearing and worth protecting.

  • What we found — the findings themselves, grouped into four categories: Technical SEO, On-Page SEO, Performance and Links.

  • The action plan — three phases. An Infrastructure Sprint first, then AEO and GEO, then Scale and Authority. Sequenced, because two of those depend on the first one being done.

  • What we could not see — the things a one-minute automated pass cannot reach, stated plainly rather than left as a silent gap.

What it is honest about

It runs heuristic checks and model assessment. It does not give you backlink or index data — no domain authority, no referring-domain counts. That comes from elsewhere in our stack, and we would rather say so than imply one tool does everything.

Powers

Identity Architecture and The Velocity Engine — establishing the entity, then making the catalogue machine-readable and agent-ready.

We run this as part of your free AI Perception Report.
